- Back to School Bash, hosted by Mayor Tim Burchett, will be 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Knoxville Expo Center, 4331 Clinton Hwy. This follows the first day (half-day) for Knox County Schools. Free school supplies and a “Shoney’s KidCare ID.” The event is free and open to all. It is sponsored by the Knoxville Expo Center, Star 102.1 and Shoney’s of Knoxville Inc.
- Mount Harmony Baptist Church, 819 Raccoon Valley Road, Heiskell, will host a benefit singing at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. Bring individually wrapped candy or monetary donations for the veterans at Campbell County, Va., clinic. Singing will be J.P. Miller, Eddie and Sherry Richards and the Gloryway Believers. Everyone is invited.
