- Powell Republican Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Shoney’s Restaurant, Emory Road at I-75, with guest speakers Hank Hamblin and David Stansberry. Both are congressional candidates from the second district.
- Northwest Knox BPA will meet at noon Thursday, May 17, at the Karns Senior Center on Oak Ridge Highway with speaker state Sen. Richard Briggs.
- Knoxville Community Band will perform a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Tennessee Amphitheatre at World’s Fair Park. The band is directed by Larry Hicks, retired band director of Heritage High School. New members with expertise on wind or percussion instruments are welcome at practices held 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays at Northwest Middle School.
