Retired Loudon educator has passed

Family members of Imogene Stokely Puckett will receive friends today, September 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the Loudon United Methodist Church, 509 Mulberry Street, Loudon. A graveside service will be private.

Mrs. Puckett, 93, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at her home in Loudon. She retired from Loudon County Schools where she served as teacher and principal of Davis and Steekee elementary schools and was a member of the Loudon County Retired Teachers Association.

She was active in numerous organizations, beginning with her church, Loudon UMC, where she was in the Deborah Circle, the United Methodist Women, the book and quilting clubs as well as the Friendship Kitchen, which served hungry shut-ins, no matter their age. She was a member of the Loudon Woman’s Club for over 50 years as an officer and chairperson serving many of their faithful projects. She was present at the founding of the Good Samaritan Center and a member of the Friendship Club of Lenoir City. In her later years she served on the board of directors for the Loudon County Senior Center.
