We always love a good Firehouse Subs sandwich, but this time, there’s something even better on the menu. Our favorite firefighter-founded sandwich shop is celebrating National First Responders Day on Wednesday, October 28, with three adorable stuffed pups honoring real-life K-9 heroes. And one of those heroes is from right here in East Tennessee!

Firehouse Subs is introducing its limited-edition K-9 Crew plushie collection, featuring three dogs whose real-life counterparts serve alongside first responders. Each plushie costs $9.95, with 100% of net profits benefiting the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

Meet the K-9 Crew:

  • Ember, the Dalmatian: Our hometown favorite! Ember serves alongside the Sevierville Fire Department, helping teach fire safety and winning hearts as the station’s four-legged ambassador.
  • Stone, the Golden Retriever: This search-and-rescue hero has responded to major disasters, including the Surfside condominium collapse in Florida and the Maui wildfires.
  • Echo, the German Shepherd: Serving with the Sartell Police Department in Minnesota, Echo helps locate missing people and detect potential threats. Echo joined the department in 2023 through a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

And there’s another delicious way to help.

On October 28, 100% of the purchase price of every Hook & Ladder sub, excluding taxes, will benefit the foundation. The sandwich features smoked turkey breast, honey ham, melted Monterey Jack cheese and all the traditional toppings on a toasted roll.

“As a brand founded by firefighters, honoring those who answer the call is at the heart of everything we do,” said Mike Hancock, president of Firehouse Subs.

Since 2005, the foundation has awarded more than $112 million in lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations nationwide.

We think that’s a pretty good reason to grab lunch, pick up a plush pup for someone special and support the people — and dogs — who help keep our communities safe.

A little Dining Duo advice: The plushies are available beginning October 28 at participating Firehouse Subs locations while supplies last, so don’t wait too long. They’re available in stores only, not through digital or third-party orders.

The Hook & Ladder fundraiser includes qualifying restaurant, app and online purchases but excludes taxes, combos, upsizes, add-ons, catering and third-party delivery.
