A good purse can carry just about anything. On Sept. 17, hundreds of them will help carry an even bigger purpose: supporting homebound seniors across Knox County.
Power of the Purse 2026, the signature fundraising event benefiting Mobile Meals, returns to Rothchild Catering & Conference Center for an evening of shopping, dinner, jewelry, and a silent auction. Doors open at 4:45 p.m., with Purse Madness beginning at 6 p.m.
Guests can browse hundreds of purses offered at bargain prices, along with new and vintage jewelry at the Penny Bandy Jewelry Corner. The evening also includes dinner and dessert by Rothchild Catering and a silent auction featuring local businesses.
The fun has a serious purpose. Power of the Purse raises thousands of dollars each year for Mobile Meals, which delivers nutritious meals, companionship, and safety checks to more than 1,100 homebound seniors in Knox County every weekday. Each ticket, purse, jewelry purchase, and auction bid helps seniors remain safe, nourished, and connected in their own homes.
Tickets On Sale Now! Early-bird tickets are $40 per person or $375 for a table of 10 through Aug. 28. After Aug. 28, tickets increase to $45 per person or $425 for a table of 10. Organizers note that last year’s event sold out by the end of August, so those planning to attend may want to reserve their seats early.
There is still another way to help before the event. Mobile Meals is collecting new or gently used purses and jewelry through the end of August. The organization is also seeking additional business sponsors for Power of the Purse.
