Knox County Master Gardener events in April are plentiful. Here are highlights, including additional Dogwood Arts events scheduled with master gardeners.
Apr. 7, 11, and 18, master gardener Shelia McNeely will present how to start seeds. “Starting Spunky Sprouts” will be held April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Kerns Senior Center, 8042 Oak Ridge Highway; April 11 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Branch Library, 100 Golf Club Road; and April 18 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Bluff Library, 9045 Cross Park Drive.
Apr. 7, 9 & 21, master gardener Gina Bond will lead wildflower hikes at South Knoxville’s Dean’s Woods. April 7 is from 10-11:30 a.m., April 9 from 2-3:30 p.m., and April 21 is from 10:-11:30 a.m. For location details and registration, go to: here.
On April 10, a beginner gardening workshop will be held at Beardsley Farm, 1741 Reynolds St., 1:30 -3:30 p.m. The event is free, but registration is required: here.
April 11 and 18, Farragut Branch Library plant clinic with a master gardener will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at 417 N. Campbell Station Rd.
April 14, an Ijams nature walk with master gardeners Gina Bond and Nancy Howell, and Ijams staff Kyle Preston will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. Register at: here.
On April 18, master gardener Cid Letsinger will answer garden and plant questions at the Norwood Branch Library on Mar. 21 from 10 a.m. – noon. The library is located at 1110 Merchant Dr.
On April 18, a basic garden class will be held at Payne Ave. Missionary Baptist Church, 2714 Martin Luther King Blvd, from 10 a.m.-noon. The free event requires preregistration by going here.
April 18 & 19, Racheff Gardens and Arboretum, a Knox County Master Gardener project, will have open gardens from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The garden is located at 1943 Tennessee Ave.
April 23, a tree walk at Racheff Gardens and Arboretum will begin at 5:30 p.m. with master gardener Tom Welborn. Register at: here.
April 25, Burlington Branch Library will have a master gardener from 1-3 p.m. to answer garden questions. The library is located at 4614 Asheville. Hwy.
April 25, at 9 a.m. and Apr. 28 at 11 a.m. guided nature walks will be available at Collier Preserve, 316 W. Emory Rd. with master gardener Sara Bryant.
