With temperatures in the low twenties this week, spring suddenly seemed far away again. March had come in like a lamb, and the daffodils were already in full bloom in Cades Cove. We took advantage of the mild weather to enjoy the most prolific showing of this early spring flower that can be remembered.

Common throughout the cove, these bursts of yellow are often the only remnants of long-lost homesites. Maybe not as exhilarating as searching for a bear or a large buck, the day was wonderfully relaxing. Robin painted while I wandered the cove chasing jonquils.
