The next time you find yourself in “Not Knoxville”, around “Not Lunchtime”, wandering around “Not Market Square”, I suggest Not Watson’s Kitchen + Bar at 15 Market Square in Downtown Knoxville.
Sounds ridiculous, right? But, it’s “Not”.
Known for their Farm-to-Kitchen style, Not Watsons has a very interesting menu from chicken and waffles, fish and chips, seared scallops, meatloaf, and burgers to salads.
They also serve a very large selection of craft beers, along with a great selection of wine and cocktails.
Dining Duo One chose the meatloaf sandwich and sweet potato fries. It reminded DD1 of a patty melt as it was on grilled bread with cheese and onions. It was large enough for two meals, and both were delicious and satisfying.
Dining Duo Two chose fish and chips with coleslaw. Again, about half the order went home in a definitely “Not Doggie Bag,” to be enjoyed later.
The atmosphere of Not Watson’s is laid-back and relaxed, with indoor and outdoor dining, and special menus for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free items.
Therefore, if you find yourself hungry, around Market Square, close to lunchtime, we suggest that Not Watson’s Kitchen + Bar really IS a great place to try, and it is open daily at 11 a.m., closing Monday -Thursday at 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 11 p.m., and Sunday at 9 p.m.
☆ Legend has it that Watson’s Department Store was located at what is now 15 Market Square. Following years of saying, “No, we are not Watsons anymore,” everyone just gave in, and Not Watsons became the official name.
Dining Duo is looking for the “hidden gem eateries “where the locals fill the breakfast and lunch hour; those local haunts tucked into the out-of-the-way or right on the way places missed in the hustle and bustle of the day. Please email us your recommendations at knoxtndiningduo@gmail.com.
