Caughron Transport Services is a newly permitted ambulance service, but this project has been ongoing for just over three years.

Caughron Transport Services is deemed an ambulance service with medical oversight and protocols for the basic life support levels. However, the service focuses on non-emergency transports, such as discharges, in-facility transfers, doctor’s appointments, and dialysis patients requiring stretcher transport for medical necessity.

Since the transport service is not a 911 service and is not part of EMS, they will help support it by filling in the gaps, which creates the value of C.T.S. When patients have to wait until an EMS unit becomes available, C.T.S. can help with this traffic so the EMS side can focus on clearing the emergency traffic holding.

C.T.S. has the authority to transport to or from Blount County; therefore, it can support facilities in neighboring counties to support ALL of our neighbors in Blount County. An example of this range of transfer: where AMR Blount may not have resources or time to transport a patient to the VA hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee, C.T. S. can do so without being attached to emergencies.

When you’re experiencing an emergency, you call 911 to receive an ambulance as fast as possible.  C.T. S. supports you when you have been discharged to home or a facility.

Its resources help traffic circulate by clearing hospital rooms so patients in the ER can move to a room.
