First Horizon has named Sandra Garcia as Powell banking center manager. She replaces veteran banker Teresa Long who was promoted to vice president and banking center manager at First Horizon’s Maryville regional office.

Garcia’s focus will be on serving the Powell and North Knox County communities. As banking center manager, Garcia will manage all aspects of the customer experience, as well as operations of the center.

She will coach employees to address customer issues effectively and follow up with resolutions to maintain accountability. She will regularly review surveys in order to provide feedback to employees about the customer experience.

Garcia, 6-3, is a former professional basketball player who competed for the Colombia and Puerto Rico national teams for over 10 years. She graduated from Wake Forest University where she also played basketball.

“First Horizon is thrilled to have Sandra on our team,” said East Tennessee President Dave Miller. “I know she will bring the same heart and dedication she showed on the court to serving her clients.”

Garcia missed just two games over her four-year career for the Demon Deacons. She averaged 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in her college career and had 81 blocked shots, which is sixth-most in school history. Her 1,201 career points rank her 14th in school history and she is just one of four Demon Deacons to record more than 1,200 career points and more than 700 career rebounds.

On social media, Garcia said her athletic experience has enabled her to learn skills that she “can apply daily to lead, manage and work well with diverse customers and coworkers.” She has worked in financial services for seven years.
