For a professional photographer, those dark, dreary January days with cold rain and no snow are usually ideal for organizing past images and networking with colleagues and customers to present “the next big thing.”

What’s different about East Tennessee are the mountains with the ridge and valley topography that can make a mundane field trip a great delight.

We followed this rainbow several miles through numerous permutations, wishing that it would fill the sky above a beautiful land form.

The Nolichucky Rainbow just happened to reach its 180-degree apex over the river between Erwin and Jonesborough. From bland to beauty, the day was brightened by a gift from the Divine.
