Jamey Romig is principal at Karns

Jamey Black Romig has been appointed principal of Karns Elementary School effective July 2021. She replaces Shay Siler, who came to Karns as principal in 2017. Siler is moving to Sequoyah Elementary School.

Romig joined Knox County Schools in 1998 as a teacher at Belle Morris Elementary. She also taught at Brickey-McCloud, worked with Project GRAD Knoxville, and served as an instructional coach at Dogwood and Halls elementary schools. Romig began her career in administration in 2015 as assistant principal at Halls Elementary and was named principal of Halls Elementary in 2019, where she currently serves.

Her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in elementary education are from the University of Tennessee. She also holds an education specialist degree in administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.

Josh Flory is a multi-media specialist with Knox County Schools and writes the blog Hall Pass for the KCS website.
