Farragut Middle School’s Mathcounts team clinched first place at the state Mathcounts competition on March 23, 2024.

The team is composed of sixth graders Ethan Du and Andy Gu plus seventh graders Jianshen Jiang and Elena Wu.

Mathcounts is a prestigious national middle school mathematics competition renowned for honing problem-solving skills and fostering academic excellence through engaging bee-style contests across four levels: school, chapter, state and national.

Each level involves four rounds: Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown. Each round is designed to be completed within approximately three hours.

In an outstanding individual achievement, Jianshen Jiang seized the top position statewide, securing qualification to represent Tennessee in the upcoming national Mathcounts competition in Washington, D.C., scheduled for May 12-13, 2024.

Both parents and team members expressed their gratitude to coaches, and seventh grade math teachers, Leighton Simpson and Jodi Suggs for their unwavering support and belief in the team’s potential.

We will certainly be following Jianshen Jiang’s competition in May!
