Blount baker creates bouquet cupcakes

Jay FitzBlount, Our Town Eats

You have heard of products that look “good enough to eat,” but Blount County Bakery is creating buttercream bouquet cupcakes that look “too good to eat.”

“Each cupcake can take as long as 30 minutes to carefully decorate by hand,” said Lisa Cunningham, proprietor and head chef of Blount County Bakery. “It’s a premium decorating style which requires a great deal of skill and patience, as well as an artistic eye for perfection.”

Graduating from the Bonnie Gordon School of Cake Design in Toronto, Cunningham trained under cake and sugar flower designer Maggie Austin of Alexandria, Virginia. She served as a pastry chef at the Sacajawea Hotel in Three Forks, Montana, before starting OvenArt Cake designs, which became Blount County Bakery.
