When one dies, the loved ones struggle to place significance on the deceased’s existence through the sending of flowers, donations to a favored cause or attendance at the Celebration of Life event in remembrance of the loved one through prayer, ceremony and eulogy.
This photographer takes another approach. This past week I learned from a friend that a cherished denizen of a mountain/lake community had passed on. My intention was to capture an image of the land and water she loved, and circumstances afforded that opportunity.
As sunset approached, the skies parted and a gorgeous scene evolved. To Gail, sunsets over the lake were Heaven on Earth. Now that she has her reward, her earthly memory is encapsulated in a photograph dedicated to her life. There’s hardly any greater feeling than to capture such an image in her honor.
