Our town’s got a musical. “Knoxville: The Musical” will launch this year’s season at Clarence Brown Theatre on the UT campus. The play was commissioned by Knoxville’s lottery winner and patron of the arts, Roy Cockrum, and premiered in Sarasota, Florida, two years ago. Here’s a clip from that show.

The play is based on the James Agee novel A Death in the Family and a subsequent movie, All the Way Home.

Cynthia Moxley broke the news with a post on The Blue Streak. Moxley participated in a lunch gathering on Feb. 17, 2024, at which theatre supporters got an update on construction of the new Jenny Boyd Carousel Theatre and learned the lineup for the upcoming theater season. All the details are on Moxley’s blog.
