Today: Light the Park 2023

Jay FitzFarragut

Start your holiday season by joining the town of Farragut as the switch gets flipped on a massive light display at Founders Park at Campbell Station. Countdown to Light the Park starts at 5:30 p.m. today (11/20/23) with a full slate of activities, including a visit from a special guest in red. A special guest from the North Pole will say hello at 6:30 p.m. and the lights come on at 6:45 p.m.

This year’s event brings fresh activities. Entertainment will include harpist Joanna Seiber, Southern Taps Clogging Company and holiday tunes from local favorite Mike Snodgrass. Younger visitors will enjoy a scavenger hunt, a firepit, crafts and treats.

Well done, Town of Farragut grounds crew.

Parking for Countdown to Light the Park is available across Campbell Station Road at Westgate Christian Fellowship, as well at Autumn Care Assisted Living (400 Herron Road) and Holy Cross Anglican Church (515 Herron Road). The Knox County Sheriff’s Office will assist those crossing Campbell Station Road. Additional parking is available at the Farragut Community Center (239 Jamestowne Blvd.) and at Ralph McGill Plaza at the corner of Kingston Pike and Campbell Station Road.

For those unable to attend, East Tennessee PBS will provide a live stream of the event on the Town of Farragut Facebook page and YouTube channel. A Light the Park holiday special featuring the event will air at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, and at noon on Sunday, Dec. 24. The special can also be viewed on-demand on PBS Passport.

Light the Park continues every evening starting at dusk from Tuesday, Nov. 21, through Monday, Jan. 1. There will be entertainment and giveaways from local vendors as well as food trucks at Founders Park most evenings through Dec. 23. See the calendar for more info.

Santa’s mailbox will usher all wishes directly to the North Pole! Letters can be placed in the mailbox at Founders Park for delivery by elves to the North Pole beginning Monday, Nov. 20. To receive a reply from Santa, please mail letters by Dec. 18 and include a return address!
