Teachers turn cliché into a motivator

“You can’t make this stuff up!” If I had a dollar for every time I thought it, heard it or said it in my 36 years in education, I could have made Nick McBride’s Thursday column about buying some extravagant property.

Briana Richardson, Devin Siebold, KC Mack and Chinedu Unaka are the Bored Teachers comedians

A group of teachers took the idea to whole new level by creating the Bored Teachers Comedy Tour, attracting teachers from across the area and country last Tuesday night to a sold out Bijou crowd!

April Lamb went to the show with her teacher friends Jennifer Atchley and Jessica Weaver. “It was a great chance to enjoy time with colleagues while we enjoy the end of summer and prepare for another school year.” They sat next to a teacher from Michigan who had come down for the same chance.

They all had a night of uplifting and hilarious stories from these teacher comedians, who related some of the unbelievably absurd situations educators experience from dealing with bizarre student situations to just the whacky every day school expectations.

To quote another cliché, this group of teachers figured out how to “turn a nickel into a dime.”
