Sundress Reading Series returns with two poets

The Sundress Reading Series presents poets Mary Leauna Christensen and Anna Laura Reeve from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 24, at Pretentious Beer Co. Open mic, hosted by Shlagha Borah, will begin at 7 p.m. and is limited to 10-12 readers.

The Sundress Reading Series is free and open to the public.

Mary Leauna Christensen, an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, recently received her doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is managing editor of The Swamp Literary Magazine. Her work can be found in Cream City Review, The Laurel Review, Southern Humanities Review, Denver Quarterly and The Gettysburg Review, among others. She was named a 2022 Indigenous Nations Poets fellow for the inaugural In-Na-Po retreat and was selected as a returning fellow for 2023. Info here.

Anna Laura Reeve is the author of Reaching the Shore of the Sea of Fertility (Belle Point Press). Winner of the 2022 Adrienne Rich Award for Poetry, her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Beloit Poetry Journal, Terrain.org, Salamander and others. She was a finalist in the 2023 Greg Grummer Poetry Contest and the 2022 Ron Rash Award and is getting into tarot part-time. She lives and gardens in Knoxville, Tennessee. Info here.
