Summer Movie Magic returns to historic Tennessee Theatre

The Summer Movie Magic series presented by Denark Construction is coming back to the Tennessee Theatre with a lineup of movies that include popular classics, blockbuster hits and family entertainment. The films will be offered on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons, from June to late August.

“The versatility of the Tennessee Theatre allows us to transform it into a majestic movie theatre for the Summer Movie Magic Series,” Tennessee Theatre Executive Director Becky Hancock said. “Whether you are a dedicated movie buff or simply enjoy the occasional film, get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience at our grand entertainment palace. The selected titles will cater to a wide variety of audiences and ages, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”

Friday night showings will begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, one hour prior to each movie’s start time.

The full schedule of the Summer Movie Magic series includes:

  • A League of Their Own – Friday, June 30
  • Captain America: The First Avenger – Sunday, July 2
  • Tommy – Friday, July 7
  • E.T. – Sunday, July 9
  • High Fidelity – Friday, July 28
  • Some Like it Hot – Sunday, July 30
  • Star Wars – Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back – Friday, Aug. 11
  • Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory – Sunday, Aug. 13
  • Clueless – Friday, Aug. 25
  • Sleeping Beauty – Sunday, Aug. 27

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 16, 2023, and are $10 for adults and $8 for children under 12 as well as seniors 65 and older. Tickets can be purchased online at tennesseetheatre.com or by calling the box office at 865-684-1200.
