“We will not become the mandate police,” Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler said at a news conference in Tennessee as he discussed his Oct. 25 letter to Biden calling the vaccine mandate “unconstitutional” and “government overreach.”
Civics 101 – We elect Congress, the state legislature and local commission or council to enact laws. We elect sheriffs to enforce them. It’s a dangerous and slippery slope when sheriffs start picking and choosing which laws to enforce. Of course, Spangler does employ three lawyers in the Sheriff’s Office, has the Knox County Law Director’s Office to rely upon and his own personal attorney for suing his own office.
