Reflections

Numerous times I have said that if you find a reflection, take it.  Here are three images from our early spring trip to the far reaches of Norway.  One is recognizable as the colorful boat fenders hanging from the dock on the seasonally inhabited island of Grip.  Though easily recognizable, the reflections given by the rippled water give this photo a little of an abstract appearance.

The second reflection may take more study to realize that it is the last remnants of a winter avalanche perfectly mirrored in the still waters of the fjord.

This third image, likely unrecognizable to most people, may fit the definition of abstract art, “the exploration of shape, texture and colors.”  Some will like this and some will consider it a waste of time.  Me, I was just having fun shooting the ever-changing reflections of sky, snow and mountain walls replicated in our boat’s wake cruising the glassy smooth waters.

With the gift giving season soon upon us, consider the gift of art.  There are so many local artists creating unique and beautiful things that cannot be found in the mall.  Art gives every time someone sees it and supports local creators and small businesses.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work. Their website is www.ChristopherRobinArts.com. All works are copyright protected.
