Rains last week kept county crews busy

With the sunny weather earlier last week, our highway crews were able to go out and get some projects done.

On Monday and Tuesday, we were out on Gleason Drive removing brush and adding a new swale. Swales are depressions in the ground that help direct the flow of rainwater and can either be natural or humanmade. This swale was put in to help direct rain from Gleason to a drain on Ascot Court.

We also had a swale damaged by excessive water run off on Commission Drive in the East Bridge Industrial Park. Crews went out to repair and reinforce it; just in time for the rain to come in at the end of the week.

We had a crew out in District 7 removing a condemned house that was found to be a safety hazard.

The rain at the end of the week had us out in all seven districts, monitoring the roads for high waters. We are grateful that less rain came in than was predicted and no roads were flooded.
