A Case for the Existence of God, a play by Samuel D. Hunter, will run Sept. 21 to Oct. 8, on Thursdays through Sundays, at River & Rail Theatre Company, Old City Performing Arts Center, in downtown Knoxville.

It’s a new play, published in July 2023 although performed and reviewed before that date, and is currently playing in New York City. A New York Times headline said the “must-see heartbreaking play argues for hope in the face of extreme disappointment.” Jesse Green’s review is here.

The Knoxville production is directed by Rico Bruce Wade. Kenneth Herring plays Keith, while Joshua Peterson is Ryan.
