Nebraska highway, in the sunshine

Christopher RobinOur Town Arts

Traveling the expanse of western Nebraska, we stopped to photograph some dilapidated buildings. These mailboxes across the highway caught my attention. Neighbors are often far apart and the ranch house may be several miles off the main road. Maybe the daily mail is an opportunity for neighbors to meet and chat for a few minutes.

To photograph these, I got quite low with my camera. This created some visual interest with the foreground grasses and eliminated any background that might distract from my subject of the mailboxes. Try getting lower and closer if you want to take more interesting photos.

Photographer Chris and painter Robin Rohwer each week share a painting or photograph that captured their interest in hopes that it will also capture yours. They have a small studio and gallery in the Phoenix Building at 418 South Gay Street where you can stop and see their work. Their website is www.ChristopherRobinArts.com. All works are copyright protected.
