My, what big teeth you have

Tina RolenEast Knox, Our Town Outdoors

You can find Zoo Knoxville’s colony of beavers swimming around and chewing on branches in Kids Cove, the zoo’s refuge for native and heritage animals. The beaver habitat boasts beautiful naturalistic features that provides them with plenty of activities. Come face-to-face with one of our beaver family as they rest in their den. Watch them construct their own lodge with “trees” they have felled and shaped themselves.

Did you know that beavers have 20 teeth? Their teeth are orange because of high levels of iron, which make them strong enough to chew on wood all day.
