Lots to see and do at First Friday

Join the Arts & Culture Alliance for First Friday, today (9/1/23) at The Emporium Center and the downtown Arts District from 5-9 p.m. Here are the featured artists:

Beyond Landscapes by Lauren Adams and Ilina Arsova. This exhibit asks the viewer to broaden their definition of what a landscape is typically. Lauren Adams studied painting and art education at the University of South Carolina. Ilina Arsova was born in Skopje, Macedonia. She currently is a doctoral student at the University of Tennessee.

Obscura III: The Big Camera. A new, juried exhibition of alternative and historic photography including collage, mixed media, darkroom work, cyanotype and more. Cash awards will be chosen by the jurors, and viewer’s choice votes will be collected at the First Friday opening.

Field Trip: West Fifth Studios. A celebration of perspective offering viewers an opportunity the world through the eyes of the artists.

Distortions and Other Non-Realities. After residing in Asheville, North Carolina, for 15 years, artist Tonya Wade Wunder now calls Knoxville home.

Live music at The Emporium: Blesser Heart is Sarah Motes Ashley, Ruth Brown, Cindy Hassil and Vicki Heidle – four altos making rich harmony and having way too much fun. They sing Sarah’s original songs which range from jazz to pop and from hilarious to heartwarming, with Harold Nagge on bass.
