Kim and Chuck Severance opened Powell’s newest business on March 22 with refreshments and special prices. Powell’s Real Deals is located at 113 East Emory Road near the intersection with Central Avenue Pike and Heiskell Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Kim Severance enjoyed a successful career in home decor and interior design before serving one term on the Knox County Board of Education. The Real Deals franchise is new to the area, but the concept is strong. The inventory blend is home interior items, jewelry and clothes. Items are funky and it works.
“We’ve got a ‘Curvy and Loving It’ section of plus sizes,” said Severance. And a wall of necklaces boasts a sales price of $5.

Thursday’s special was half-price scented candles; Friday’s will be special prices on decorator clocks. Saturday’s is a surprise.
