‘Kickoff to Summer’ is free fun on June 17

The Tennessee Valley Fair is hosting its inaugural “Kickoff to Summer” event on Saturday, June 17, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. In the “kiddie land” portion of the fairgrounds at Chilhowee Park, 3301 E. Magnolia Ave.

Admission and many activities are free with the exception of food trucks, drinks and certain vendors. Competitions include:

  • A Pedal Pull Tractor Race
  • LEGO Build, and the
  • Best Mullet Contest

Each competition offers a different prize including Tennessee Valley Fair merchandise, a LEGO kit and tickets to this year’s Tennessee Valley Fair. The Best Mullet winner will get two tickets to see Travis Tritt in concert on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Little Ponderosa Zoo will bring several animal. Other activities include yard games, inflatables for kids, demonstrations, karaoke from 5-8 p.m. and several community organizations will be taking part.
