KCT brings ‘Huck Finn’ live

Knoxville Children’s Theatre presents a live production of “Huckleberry Finn.” Based on the book by Mark Twain and adapted by Zack Allen, the play brings the famous book to life on stage.

The play will be performed August 11-27, Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 1 and 5 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. The Children’s Theatre is at 109 E. Churchwell Ave. in North Knoxville. Tickets are available on the website.

Huck Finn is on the run from his criminal father, along with his friend Jim, adrift on the mighty Mississippi River. The two fall prey to con men calling themselves the King and the Duke. Huck and Jim get involved in a number of outrageous schemes. If Jim can get far enough up river, he can become a free man, and Huck discovers there may be a fortune for him too!

The play is performed by 15 talented young actors and designed by 10 talented young designers from ages 9 to 16. The cast includes KCT veterans Luke Meade playing Huck and Mason Cox playing Tom Sawyer. Jim will be portrayed by Azariah Arnold and the Widow Douglas will be played by Lily Segars.

Additional KCT veterans joining the cast are Tessa Arwe, Izzy Badgley, Truman Ball, Madisyn Beckman, Zee Carnes, Noe Etheridge, Cristian Salas and Shepherd Shafer. Making their KCT debuts are Sahalie Berg, Camila Herrera and Savannah Minor.

The show is directed by guest director Jonathan Clark with assistant student director Maddy Grace Payne. Tiger Ladaa will provide the scenic design with assistance from Hogan Honeycutt.

The costume design is provided by Ashley Russell with assistance from Brooke Fellow and Connor Watters. Ally Summie will provide the lighting design and the properties are designed by Madeleine Chandler, Fin Jump, Percy Petit and Adeline Petit. The play’s stage manager is Emma Reagan.
