Jubilee Festival this weekend

The 53rd Jubilee Festival is set for Friday and Saturday, March 11-12, with 12 performances. It will be online because of ongoing concerns about the pandemic. Performers range from old-time music, ballads, blues, shape-note singing and other area music.

Here’s the lineup (subject to change)

Friday, March 11

  • 6:30 Epworth Old Harp Singers (from our archives)
  • 7:00 John Alvis Band – old-time string band
  • 7:30 Knox County Jug Stompers – jug band, country blues, old-time
  • 8:00 Seth Webster – old-time fiddle
  • 8:30 Greg Horne – songwriting and old-time music
  • 9:00 Mojo Tweed – blues

Saturday, March 12

  • 7:00 Matt Morelock and Frank Bronson – old-time banjo and fiddle
  • 7:30 Kelle Jolly – jazz singer
  • 8:00 Dan Gammon – traditional song
  • 8:15 Y’uns – old-time and novelty songs
  • 9:00 Spring Lizards – old-time string band
  • 9:30 Mumbillies (archival) – old-time string band

Also from Jubilee Arts, March and April online concerts from Joseph Decosimo, Sparky and Rhonda Rucker, Jay Clark and continued radio programming on WUOT and WDVX.

Saturday Night on WUOT – 91.9 FM 9 p.m. – Mountain Jubilee with host Paul Campbell. Latest releases of regional music with historic recordings and highlights of Laurel Theater concerts.
