Two new staff members began careers with the Farragut Parks & Recreation Department this week. Grayson Martin stepped into the role of media assistant, and Hunter Gray is the town’s first community center operator.

Martin, a native of Dothan, Alabama, graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in public relations. He moved to Knoxville to work as program director for Boys & Girls Clubs of the TN Valley. He is looking forward to using the photography and videography skills he gained there to serve Farragut. He will split his time between tourism and public relations projects.

“I hope to serve and strengthen this community through communications and storytelling,” he says.

Gray became acquainted with the Parks & Rec Department by working as a part-time park assistant in 2020. An Oak Ridge native, he graduated from UT in 2020 with a degree in recreation and sports management. He is currently working on a master’s degree in sports management from ETSU.

As community center operator, Gray will manage the Farragut Community Center in the evenings and on Saturdays. He is passionate about Parks & Rec because he enjoyed sports as a child and wants to help provide those opportunities in Farragut.

“I’m looking forward to interacting with people in the community,” he says.

Wendy Smith handles public relations and marketing for the town of Farragut.
