The Battle of Broadway kicks off Friday night at 7:30 at Fulton High School, where the Central High Bobcats will open their season against the Fulton High Falcons. It’s probably safe to recommend that anyone who wants a seat should arrive early.

Coach Bryson Rosser’s Bobcats finished 12-3 last season and came up one game short of a state championship. The 2017 season got off to a fast start last week with a 33-19 away victory over Bristol’s Tennessee High.

Friday’s game will be coach Rob Black’s team’s debut. Although the Falcons own five state championships and a 31-11-1 overall edge in the series, they suffered two losses to the Bobcats last year – a 20-19 squeaker in the regular season and a 20-6 drubbing in the playoffs.

Both teams return promising young quarterbacks. Central’s Cody Fawver is a sophomore; Fulton’s Xavier Malone is a junior.
