Covenant Health promotes two

Rick Carringer has been promoted to vice president of revenue integrity for Covenant Health. He will succeed Kevin Brown, who is retiring at the end of March. In his new role, Carringer will be responsible for the health system’s patient accounting, revenue cycle and revenue integrity from within the Central Business Office. He will also oversee patient registration in coordination with each of Covenant Health’s member hospitals.

Since 2014, he has served as the chief financial officer at two Covenant Health member hospitals, Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and Roane Medical Center.

Carringer came to Covenant Health in 2006 from Baptist Health System of East Tennessee in Knoxville, where he served as controller of Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. In that role, he managed the daily cash flow, refined contractual model and reimbursement analyses, and supervised the accounting, accounts payable and payroll departments.

He has been an adjunct professor of accounting at Roane State Community College in Oak Ridge and Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville. Carringer received his master of accountancy from the University of Tennessee, where he also received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is a licensed certified public accountant and is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Aaron Burns is CAO at LeConte

Aaron Burns has been promoted to president and chief administrative officer of LeConte Medical Center. He currently serves as vice president of support services, a role he has had since July 2020. He will succeed current chief administrative officer Gaye Jolly, who is retiring at the end of March 2022. In his new role, Burns will manage the overall operations of LeConte Medical Center and work with the leadership team of Covenant Health on system-wide initiatives.

Burns called his new job “an honor.” He said LeConte plays an incredibly important role in the Sevier community, and provides services and expertise that are unique among hospitals of similar size. “After nearly two years here, I feel very much like part of the LeConte Medical Center family. Working with Gaye Jolly has been a privilege, and I’m committed to continuing her legacy of excellent leadership.”

“Aaron Burns has been an asset to LeConte since joining Covenant Health and is already well respected by employees and physicians at the medical center. He also has worked successfully with other Covenant Health leaders and employees on a variety of initiatives,” said Jim VanderSteeg, Covenant Health president and CEO.

Burns received his MBA in healthcare administration from Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee, and his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Burns came to Covenant Health from Merit Health in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he served as the assistant chief executive officer.
