A road project on E. Emory Road that started in spring of 2021 is complete. This project aligned several roads that were intersecting with E. Emory around a curve and hill that greatly limited the line of sight. This new intersection alignment also gives Fire Station 36 the ability to stop traffic on E. Emory Road in case of emergencies. The project cost $1.8 million, a small price to pay for the major safety improvement in the area between Powell and Halls.

Check out this YouTube video of Knox County Engineering and Public Works Senior Director Jim Snowden talking about the improvements to E. Emory Road:

Recent work

The District 4 crew was out repairing a collapsed catch basin on Wrights Ferry Road. The crew dug the old basin out and rebuilt it with concrete.

Kimblerlin Heights Road in District 3 is being repaved. We have contracted this work out with Harrison Paving. The road repaving schedule is based on many factors including but not limited to the traffic level and grade of the road.

Two tons of asphalt went to Thorn Grove Pike to fill potholes early in the week.

After the high winds and storms on Thursday, crews were out in all districts Friday removing trees that were blown down and blocking roadways.

Here are some photos from work around the county:
