‘Cop Stop’ at Fountain City Pres

Susan EspirituFountain City

Fountain City Presbyterian Church is welcoming the Knoxville Police Department East District to access its building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as a Cop Stop.

A Cop Stop offers a reprieve for officers from the 12-hour shifts in their patrol cars so they might use the restroom, eat a snack or have a peaceful moment to complete paperwork.

If you are in the Fountain City area of the church and see a patrol car or officer on the FCPC premises, just know they likely are stopping for a respite, not an emergency call.

There are two other Cop Stops for our KPD officers in other districts of Knoxville: Wallace Knox on Merchants Road and Transformation Church on Executive Park Drive.

This partnership is one example of how together, the community and police officers can create a positive environment where mutual respect allows for a pro-active collaboration which allows everyone to feel valued.
