The Halls High Alumni Association was back in business this year after a two-year break for Covid-19. The always (never) shy Dan Bolinger was elected president, although we expect to continue getting emails from Chris Vandergriff. The annual dinner was April 30 at the high school cafeteria.
Giving a $1,500 scholarship to a Halls High senior is a major project of the group. This year’s winner was Candace Le, pictured above with her parents, Bolinger and Connie Arnold Hunter.
Her parents are first-generation immigrants. Both work at Nails 1st in Black Oak Plaza.
“Candace won many other awards this year for her academic achievements,” said Bolinger. “She is enrolled in the University of Tennessee and wants to be a social worker, specializing in the needs of young children.”
