The Knoxville Jewish Alliance has scheduled A Vigil for Israel for 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Arnstein Jewish Community Center, 6800 Deane Hill Drive. Parking is available at the AJC center, the Bearden Branch Library and Erin Presbyterian Church.

In a statement, Bryan Goldberg, president, said, “Our hearts are shattered as we continue to watch the news and see our brothers and sisters in Israel trying to recover from the horrific attack and trying to find strength in the midst of war.

“Now, more than ever, it is critical that we come together and publicly display our love and support of Israel and the people who live there.”

There will be a children’s vigil with age-appropriate activities including songs of peace and making cards for Israeli troops. Security will be onsite and all attendees are subject to search.

An emergency fundraising effort has been launched, working with partners on the ground. Info at www.jewishknoxville.org/israel-crisis.
