New website/paper in Massachusetts

Warning: This column, which I plan to write on Fridays, is about media – old, new and wildly weird. As old media fade, folks across the country are reinventing themselves as reporters/writers and reworking their method of disseminating news and advertisements.

Since KnoxTNToday is in the middle of this, I find myself reading about startups here and there. This is navel-gazing, thus the warning. But if you agree that we’ve living through a time of change as significant as the Reformation, you might enjoy being in the theatre as Johannes Gutenberg, Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Wesley and others challenge the dominant church and reinvent religion.

Anne Eisenmenger

Anne Eisenmenger is CEO of a company called Beaver Dam in Massachusetts. Yesterday (Aug. 18, 2022) Eisenmenger debuted Nemasket Week, a free, advertiser-supported print newspaper and website.

Hmmm. That’s what we are doing, but the New England business claims to print a newspaper with a website. KnoxTNToday is a website that produces a once-a-month newspaper to draw readers onto the website. The future is online.

Another difference is size. Nemasket Week covers towns of Middlesboro MA  (population 25,121), and Lakeville MA (population 11,218). Compare that to Knox County, where Farragut had population 26,110 and Powell, population 24,330. All numbers 2018.

Anyhow, people of Beaver Dam. Congratulations on your launch. Come visit us sometime here on Beaver Creek, Tennessee.

Posting on Facebook

When to post on Facebook? According to sproutsocial.com

  • Best times to post on Facebook: Mondays through Fridays at 3 a.m., Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and noon
  • Best days to post on Facebook: Tuesdays through Fridays
  • Worst days to post on Facebook: Saturdays

Facebook continues to be the most used platform by marketers worldwide, sprout social writes, but we’ve seen an interesting shift in when there’s the most engagement in 2022. While mid-mornings used to dominate more strongly in years past, it now appears early morning hours have taken the lead.

I knew there’s a reason we post on Facebook at 3 a.m.
