The Tennessee Valley Fair has announced the second and final round of entertainers coming to Knoxville in 2021:

Wednesday, Sept. 15 – Commodores
Thursday, Sept. 16 – Rick Springfield

Tickets for these two shows will go on sale this Friday, July 30, at 10 a.m. Tickets are already on sale for the concert series featuring Jon Langston, John Anderson, Riley Green, En Vogue, Prince: The Purple Xperience and Joe Nichols. The 2021 Tennessee Valley Fair will take place Sept. 10-19 at Chilhowee Park and Exposition Center.

July 30-31

Smoky Mountain Quilters of Tennessee present the 40th Annual Quilt Show & Competition at the Knoxville Expo Center on Clinton Highway.

More than 200 quilts will be on display. On Friday, Merikay Waldvogel, a nationally known quilt collector, researcher and writer, will present an antique quilt turning at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. On Saturday, Teddy Pruett, a nationally recognized expert in quilt history, will present a trunk show at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on differences between quilts of the North and South. Shop some 20 vendors and a boutique of unique items handcrafted by guild members. There will be vendor demos and scavenger hunts for the young ones. Quilt appraisals by appointment. July 31

Come out and support young entrepreneurs during Sew It Sell It Market Day at The Bottom. Students, ages 10-17 in The Bottom’s sewing & entrepreneurship program will be selling their handmade products on Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The program gives youth the opportunity to express their creativity, learn a vocational skill and develop a sense of self-reliance by sewing and selling a product. In addition to learning the basics of sewing, students learn business planning, branding and marketing, and retail selling. They also are exposed to university faculty, local entrepreneurs and other professionals in our community. The Bottom is located at 202 Randolph Street, 37917. Info: here.

August 1 – September 15

The Fountain City Art Center presents its Members’ Show from Aug. 1 – Sept. 15. The reception and show opening will be Sunday, Aug. 1, from 2-4 p.m. Awards will be announced at 2:30 p.m. The center is located at 213 Hotel Ave. Hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. or by appointment.
