Thorn Grove Baptist Church geared up for fun this week with “Game On!” Vacation Bible School. The church hosted about 60 kids and 13 teens each night, feeding, teaching and leading activities with about 35 adult volunteers.

VBS director Hannah Underwood said the VBS theme is all about “gearing up for life’s big game.”

This year’s mission project is a partnership with Forward Church to provide backpacks for kids in need in South Knoxville. Depending on which team raises the most money, either Underwood or Pastor Joey Marshall will be come a “human hot dog” on Friday.

Kids enjoyed dress-up days like Old People Night and Crazy Hair Night, along with crafts, water balloon baseball, sponge relays and more. Each night began with scriptures, songs and Bible study.

Underwood thanked Ebenezer Baptist Church and the two other churches who donated decorations.
