L&N STEM Academy Key Club members will distribute some 200 winter scarves today (01/22) as part of the club’s “Warm Thoughts” project. The students will work on their lunch block, from 12:20 to 1:40 p.m., starting at the Academy and walking toward Market Square. Tags have been attached to each scarf that read: “I am not lost … You can keep me at no cost! Take me to keep you warm in the cold and help someone else when you can, as this act of kindness is twofold!” Students will tie the scarves to trees and fences. The following week, Key Club members will rewalk the route, collecting the scarves remaining.
Renee Hoyos will launch her campaign for Congress from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Beck Cultural Exchange Center, 1927 Dandridge Ave. Hoyos is a Democratic candidate to unseat Republican U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, who is expected to seek a second term.
