Shaunna Foster to Maynard Elementary

Shaunna Foster has been appointed principal of Maynard Elementary School effective July 2021. She joined Knox County Schools in 2004 as a teacher serving at Belle Morris Elementary School. Her mother is retired principal Mamosa Foster, and her dad was the late John B. Foster Jr., a coach and high school science teacher in Knox County Schools.

Maynard is one of the smallest schools in Knox County with 150 students. The principal has been Dexter Murphy.

Foster has worked as an instructional coach at Green Magnet Academy and Chilhowee Intermediate. She was selected to be part of the Leadership Academy in 2017 and placed at Gibbs Elementary as an assistant principal. In 2018, she was named assistant principal at Karns Elementary, where she currently serves.

Her bachelor’s degree is in business management from Austin Peay State University; her master’s and an education specialist degree are from Lincoln Memorial. She earned a second education specialist degree in administration and leadership from the University of Tennessee.
