The city of Knoxville Save Our Sons initiative will host a community resource fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Honey Rock Victorious Church Event Center, 4113 Holston Drive.

Residents who have had trouble finding employment due to a criminal record, lack of a state ID or other barriers will benefit from attending the resource fair. In response to these common challenges, the University of Tennessee College of Law and Knox County Public Defender’s Office will conduct an expungement screening at the fair to help participants determine which offenses are eligible to be removed. The Tennessee Department of Safety Mobile Unit will assist individuals with driver’s license reinstatements, renewals, duplicates and Real IDs.

“Save Our Sons is excited to collaborate with our partners to address unmet needs and remove barriers to success for residents seeking to change their life outcomes,” said SOS outreach manager Kevin Perry. “In this accessible venue, we can showcase our partner community organizations’ resources and empower Knoxville residents to make healthy, smart and informed choices.”

Attendees will be able to receive NARCAN training from the Metro Drug Coalition and get additional information from Job Corps, Police Advisory and Review Committee (PARC), CONNECT Ministries, the Family Justice Center and other community partners.
