Runners used headlamps and flashlights in a unique night race on Oct. 12. Held by the Knoxville Track Club, the I.C. King and Queen of Darkness Trail Race and the Kids Twilight Trail Mile took place at I.C. King Park, located around five miles south of the University of Tennessee.

Starting at 6:45 p.m., the one-mile kids race started just before sunset to give them a taste of what the adults’ run would be like.

The adult run was held mostly in full darkness, with headlamps or flashlights being required for safety. The course was roughly seven to eight miles, utilizing nearly all of the trails located within the park. Halloween decorations were spread throughout the course, making for a festive fall experience for all involved.

Winners will be announced soon on the Knoxville Track Club website.
