Dogs and their people celebrated Halloween early this year at the University of Tennessee Gardens Howl-O-Ween event. From monsters to hot dogs, dogs could be seen in a variety of cute, funny and creative costumes along with their owners, some of whom also chose to dress up.

“We had around 400 dogs and 1,400 people last year,” said gardens director Dr. Sue Hamilton. “We look like we are having another great turnout this year.”

The event was free for the public, while registration for the parade was $15. All proceeds went to UT Vet School. There was also a pet food drive to benefit Young-Williams Animal Center. Pet-related businesses, educational booths, food trucks and others were present.

The parade consisted of several costume judging categories, including homemade, scariest, funniest and pop culture.
