Gun lobby targeted as Georgia communities mourn.
I have not much to share this week as I will return to the topic of gun violence as it is the topic of my forthcoming book, The Case for Atrocity: Gun Violence in Modern America and its Victims, due out in 2025.
U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Georgia) states that the gun lobby lines its pockets with the blood of our children. He asks why can’t Congress pass comprehensive gun reform. He answers his own question: politicians are beholden to gun lobbyists.
For content reading on this topic, read Jonathan Metzl’s compelling book, What We’ve Become: Living and Dying in a Country of Arms and Thomas Abt’s book, Bleeding Out.
Warnock closed his statements with this enlightening quote: “We are all sitting ducks.”
That was evident as people drove I-75 last week and were targets from a sniper in the woods who is still not apprehended.
