Knoxville, Farragut seek input on hazard mitigation plan

Sandra ClarkUncategorized

The town of Farragut, in collaboration with Knox County and the city of Knoxville, is updating the multi-jurisdictional local hazard mitigation plan. Residents can help by completing a survey and/or attending a public meeting from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the large conference room at the Knoxville Public Works Service Center, 3131 Morris Ave. The survey is available at surveymonkey.com/r/Knox_Mitigation.

A hazard mitigation plan is a document that addresses potential natural hazards such as flooding, wildfires and severe winter weather in an effort to reduce or eliminate loss of life or property damage. Updating the plan will allow the jurisdiction to obtain eligibility for mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
