Having served in the school system for over 35 years, it is a pleasure to see a positive relationship between a school and a school board member such as the one between Byington-Solway and Betsy Henderson. Henderson was presented with several special gifts last week, each a reminder of her dedication to service in the community.

The Byington-Solway FFA shared their talents with Henderson through offerings of geraniums, impatiens and salvias grown in their greenhouses. In recognition of Henderson’s service to the community, chapter vice president Laileigh Powell awarded Henderson an honorary membership in the FFA on behalf of the chapter.

Joshua Cameron said, “The FFA Chapter looks for members in the community who embody our motto, ‘Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve’ and we all felt Ms. Henderson embodied the ‘Living to Serve’ part by representing our community on the school board and supporting agriculture education in the classroom.”
