Hardin Valley teacher honored for science instruction

Hardin Valley Middle School teacher Bethany Saunders was honored in Nashville this week as one of the state’s top science educators.

Saunders was recognized by Tennessee Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn as a state finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. The award is administered by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Broadband program offers discounted service

Is your family struggling to pay for broadband service? An FCC program called the Emergency Broadband Benefit may be able to help.

The program will provide a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
